Mile 3601 – Whitehorse, YT

We are spending a couple of nights here in Whitehorse.  There are a few sights (museums) and we will attend the “Frantic Follies” tonight.  Headed to Beaver Creek tomorrow, the last stop before entering Alaska.  We have been advised that this will be the worse stretch of road we will encounter.  Frost heaves damage the road during the winter and Canada has no interest in maintaining this section of the road as it goes nowhere but Alaska.

Below is Doris in front of Sam McGee’s cabin (as in “The Cremation of Sam McGee”).  The poem is complete fiction and the author simply asked Sam for permission to use his name as he just liked the sound of the name.

Below are the remains of military vehicles used in the construction of the Alaska Highway in 1942.  Photos were taken at 10:40 pm.
